NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026–27: What You Need to Know

A new financial year is here, and with it comes a range of updates to the NDIS Pricing Schedule. Whether you’re a provider or a participant, we know that keeping up with changes can sometimes feel like a lot—but we’re here to break it down for you, simply and clearly.

Let’s dive into what’s changed, what’s stayed the same, and what you need to do next.

1. The Big Picture: Pricing Schedule vs. PAPL

From 1 July 2026, the NDIA has introduced a new Pricing Schedule to replace the previous PAPL document. This is now the go-to guide for billing and price limits.

Why the change? The formal PAPL is currently on hold while the Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Bill is finalised. Once passed, we expect a full release with additional explanatory guidance.

The takeaway: The Pricing Schedule is what you need to bill against from 1 July. For most participants, the changes are relatively minor—so no need to panic!

3. Short-Term Respite (STR) – A New Approach

Short-Term Accommodation (STA) has been rebranded to Short-Term Respite (STR) —and the way it’s claimed has changed significantly.

What’s new?

  • Accommodation and support are now claimed separately
  • Support is billed hourly, based on:
    • Day of the week (weekday, Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday)
    • Time of day (daytime, evening, or night)
    • Intensity (Standard or High Intensity)
  • The old bundled daily rates have been removed from 30 June 2026

Heads up: STR must be approved in the participant’s plan. If you’re considering STR, we recommend having a chat with us first to ensure you’re on the right track.

Stay tuned—we’ll be sharing a deeper dive on STR in our next blog!

4. Therapy Item Codes – New Suffixes to Know

The NDIA has introduced new suffixes for therapy claims to provide greater clarity and flexibility. Make sure you’re using the right ones:

Service TypeSuffix
Standard service(main item code)
Non-face-to-face (reports, prep)_NF
Cancellation_CA
Provider travel_PT
NDIA-requested report_RR
Telehealth_TH

Using the correct suffix is essential to avoid claim delays—so double-check before you invoice!

5. Legislation Still in Progress

We want to be upfront: the new legislation is still being finalised. But don’t worry—we’re keeping a close eye on developments and will update you as soon as anything changes. You can count on us to keep you in the loop.

6. Quick Reminders

For Providers:

  • New Pricing Schedule applies to all services from 1 July 2026
  • Any pricing changes must be discussed and agreed with participants beforehand
  • Use the correct therapy suffixes on invoices
  • STR is now hourly – no more bundled rates
  • Price limits are maximums—you can always charge less

For Participants:

  • Review your service agreements to check for any pricing updates
  • STR is now based on actual hours of support, not a daily rate
